TMTD-TV My favorite music videos, rare movies, live chat and general tomfoolery. And every once in a while you might just catch me working on something live in the studio. On occasion we'll be live from different shows, parties, and other messes I've gotten myself into. PLEASE NO INTERVIEWS.. Not even on Sundays. Thanks.

An alternative to TMTD-TV, What you'll find here is really more random stuff that I come across wherever I am, captured by the trusty (albeit with terrible battery life) Nokia N95. Very Very Random.

4 April 2009 - 7:10No Mass Confusion

I don’t think I’ve ever had such a fitting blog title before. You might have to be born before ‘82 to understand it tho.

EDIT: It’s come to my attention that there is another Total Kaos and some people are confused. I’m not going to post those videos here because of their negative nature but google is your friend.

  6. new producers…. please don’t take this route for success…..i was on mogulus when it was being mixed……but the “red 5ive lost tapes” needs to come out…with a bongo beat remix

  7. very nice…haha people crying wolf need to really do research before stating fraudulent claims

  8. ^^ exactly…we were on Mogulus when this thing was being mixed…and during the addition of the guitar part at the end of the song…its sad people need to try to cause up a stir to get heard..wutever happened to making good music and working hard to succeed?

  9. Just, lol you weren’t lying on the ever-mysterious red 5’s vocal limitations, but thanks for uploading the video, it’s quite interesting to see the record came to be from the 1st nard & b version, with im guessing lloyd on the hook? to the final product that’s tearing up the airways right now. Just out of curiosity, did you produce or alter any other cuts on if tommorow comes? Also, message me on my e-mail I have some samples that I really think you could make something perennial out of.

    Unfinished Business is classic. How could you not come up w/ that title after hearing dude’s name?

  11. need more vids like this. always good to see behind the scenes

  12. Not only does this video clear the whole beat biting mess up, but it gives a little insight into the process of making a beat. You got that flip cam now, so I’m looking forward to seeing more videos like this one. Good shit.

  13. I’m glad I kept listening. I like what you did there. Beautiful to watch/hear that evolution.

  14. “Thats why you can hear me in the bridge… sorry NOT ME! Red 5ive… *the cats out of the baaaaag* ”

  18. This is CRAZY to me, Just. I worked with Total Kaos a LONG time ago. He’s from Maine. White kid w/ the fake ghetto steez and shit (cause we know there’s nothing that hood in Maine). I even still have the track I did for him somewhere. I ran across it last week.

    He’s SOOOOO small time, man. That’s why I’m like, “Why is Just Blaze sayin’ this dude’s name? WTF happened?”

    Don’t waste your time, Just.

  24. I dont know whats going on with this situation but I just liked watching how you were able to make a hit record. I really enjoyed the walk through and how you described step by step the elements of the record. I think that’s probabaly my first time seeing something like this and it’s one of the reasons Im a huge fan homie.

    I hope one day I will get the chance to work with you. Much love and God bless.

    i belive you Just 100% , so this dude must of made this song after yours only because its not the beat thats similar (although it is, but we all know that there are only so many cords 2 use )
    but the style of the verse is exactly the same, so if his didn’t come out first i don’t see how it could be a coincidence that the verse had same exact style, either this faggot copied yours when he probly seen it on Mog , or Maino really did bite his style, i was on Mogulas all those nights u were doing the song so i know the beats legit but how do we know maino didn’t bite the style

    Just a thought

    Yo Just,

    why you using the exact same chord progression like u did in “Live your Live”???
    You’re a goo, talented and first and foremost a creative producer, thus I’m disapointed big time that you use this progression again, just because it worked one time and works alota times in popular music.
    I know you can do better than that.
    So please, for the future - reconsider, man.

    no offense,
    massive

  35. Justin says;
    05 Apr 2009 - 15:37

    hey massive, you may need to study your music theory a bit more my friend. because the 2 songs are not the same chord progession at all… if you want to call me out on being a "traditional" hip hop producer making 2 beats that arent what youd expect from me.. go right ahead.. if you’d like to call me a "sellout" because of said beats.. you are more than welcome.. all of that is a-ok. these are also 2 of the biggest reasons why people scrutinize the similarities between the songs. because they came from me. if they came from a regular southern producer, noone would give it a second thought. and I’m fine with that. I make high energy music.. period. Be it dance, hip hop, house, southern,whatever. Hell, me Joe Budden and Rah Digga made hip-house records before they came back in style. I do what whatever comes to me. Of course there are smilarities between the songs in terms of the feel.. they came from the same person.. specifically however, the similarities are not the chord progression itself. please study your music theory, or learn the proper definition of a progression. next time you want to call someone out on something that they have done, and been successful at, many times over -  reconsider, man. no offense. justin

  36. i don’t know who did what, but i do there’s a more effective way to refute claims of beat-jacking. if you really wanted to refute the claim, it would have been more effective if you played the individual parts…i.e. if you played the stacatto strings out live on whatever you used to created that part, if you (for example) started demonstrating how you put the hook together (i.e. when i heard this combination of notes, i came up with this melody, then i fleshed out these lyrics, etc). playing the finished version of each draft isn’t as persuasive.

    you also could have played the allegedly stolen beat and pointed out the differences between their track and yours.

    if you’re going to refute someone, go all the way and totally destroy the credibility of their claim.

  37. in the future, it would also be a great idea to have the security camera in your studio record your sessions. store the video on hard drives and cue it up by time and you could easily debunk any future claims like this.

  38. always cool to see how a track comes together. while this wasn’t as entertaining as say the help is coming jbtv or the come on baby with the 5 minute argument on how the lyric should be spit, it was still cool

  39. Justin says;
    05 Apr 2009 - 16:23

    yes i was going to do that if necesarry, and still will. (as far as breaking down the song track by track). i honestyl just didnt feel like it and the video was long enough. if the need arises rest assured i will. however the point wasnt to say i played all of these sounds individually, because that isnt the argument.

  41. massive says;
    05 Apr 2009 - 20:20

    yo juss,

    i’m sorry for my false accusation and for waisting your time, man! I checked the progression of the two songs again and there really is a slight difference. They are, however, using the same chords (though in a different key which is irrelevant) and a similar progression. The “Live your life” progression is: VI - III - VII - I and the progression of the song above is: I - VI - III - VII. You have to acknowledge that if you put the “I” of the Maino track in the end, they are, in fact, the same… But I’m sure this is just a coincidence.
    And, just so you know, I still buy a track on ITunes as soon as I know it is produced by my man Just Blezzy. I was just being selfish and wanted to prevent you from using the same progressions and start to making tracks that are boring ;)

    peace,
    massive

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHBVnMf2t7w

    AND ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO DEMAND OR EXPECTATION OF MELODIC SOPHISTICATION FROM BEATS, THERE SURELY IS A ENTIRE COSMOS OF JUST BLAZE UNIQUENESS TO BE EXPLORED BEFORE REVERTING TO THE REGURGITATED FORMULAIC BULLSHIT.

    IN CLOSING, EVEN IF YOU ARE ACQUITTED OF BEAT JACKING YOU CERTAINLY ARE GUILTY OF LAZINESS.

    FROM A STUDENT OF BEATSMITHERY AND OTHER CURIOUSITIES. (HAD TO USE CAPS. STILL LOVE MOST OF YOUR WORK.) ONE

  51. What’s good Just? Regardless of any of the garbage being spewed regarding “beat jacking” for “All the Above,” I hope you eventually post a more in-depth look into the song, as you mentioned at the end of the video (regarding chopping T-Pain’s vocals, etc).
    I wish the “Making Of” videos you posted for “Help is Coming” and “Why You Hate The Game” were still available, especially since the story you explained about “Help is Coming” is part of my “Hip-hop is a lot more complex and incredible than you think” spiel that I give to any of my friends who don’t listen to rap or hip-hop. Anyway, I hope you are able to post more videos like that and hope that your success continues.

    Sincerely,
    Stu E.

  52. hahaha. so i’m not the only one hanging for that new melodyne. i think its gone over a lot of ppl’s heads. are ppl that uncreative that they don’t realize what you could do with it?
    i’ve been putting some samples i come across to the side, so i can come back to them when it comes out. it’l be interesting to see how well it works. but i did see one video where they got it working on a full mix. crazy…

    I’ve been waiting for that melodyne for a while now..It has crazy possibilities but I don’t think it will work that great on some samples.

  54. Just, I am interested in knowing more about the business aspects of the record. How was Nard & B compensated for the beat? Did they get a percentage of the song, royalties, etc?

  55. Kid Beats says;
    05 May 2009 - 4:13

    I’d really like to hear the whole OG “All The Above” (”Ready To Go”)… Maino sounds great on that. I like “All The Above” better but the Nard & B version is dope in its own way.
