i wasn’t going to comment on this because it’s just stupid, but since i’m taking a break from messing with this reason app, i’ll just say this:
it would be stupid to go to music driven blog and gets all aggy and question why world issues aren’t being discussed. that’s just dumb. that’s like rolling into some vegetarian blog and ask why aren’t people discussing how burger king can exploit eskimos to sell whoppers. at the most, komi could have just put up a comment on his thoughts on the gaza situation, maybe shed a little light on the subject (for those who may not be aware of what’s going on, but may become interested after reading about it), and KIM. but nah. he goes into how israeli jay (that was TOO funny) is basically wasting time using his super powers for evil. the only way i can let this ride is because of level of maturity (even though i know of quite a few boys his age who know better, but i digress)…
all i can say is to just criticize and walk away without at least shedding some light on the gaza situation isn’t very smart. i know he threw a couple little tidbit points about what’s going on (man, there are WAAAAAAAAY more than half of americans that don’t know anything about gaza), and i know this isn’t really the place for discussing it, but at the same time i don’t think anyone would have complained if he dropped a jewel and keep it moving. you may feel that jay has more of a larger influence on people, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have ANY influence on people, yourself…

Kid Beats, the sample choice was fire, but thats what made the beat..i dont think the sample is strong enough to be looped like that but the beat is nice. Dm’s beat has more direction to it. Yea its cool - heres a piece of advice; if u wana loop a sample, only loop it if theres a strong enough melody or chord progression to carry the whole track. if the bit u wana loop didnt sound hot when u first heard it, then adding drums and bass to it probably wont do much to it. If thats the case its often better to chop the sample up and re-arrange the chops at least. Then add the drums and bass. Remember its not about getting a sample, its about letting the sample get you. Especially for Looping. I like that youre not taking the obvious route and going after soul samples tho.

Also try and wrk on ur drums a lil. Ur kicks sounded a lil off. Im not sure what it is, it sounds like the sample had an off-beat syncapated 808 or somethin and u tried to cover it up with a kick.

Also spankee use crashes and symbals to bring out the hits in the sample, it makes the beat a lil less plain. Dont use it to much, just the right amount to fill up the uncessecary space and keep the listener engaged. its all about the small things. PAN ur crashes from left to right, and make sure ur kicks and snare have that bounce feeling to them, like the sample is breathing.

Thanks for the advices Komi. I will work on my drums, yeah, probably sometimes they are a lil off, i need to work on my ear. I wanted to make ice cube’s “today was a good day” type of beat with this one, then hitting a hard loop in the middle to sort of leave a statement. @ spankee. i can see what komi is talkin about with the kick/bass. u can just hi pass filter your sample to fix a muddy bass line. i’m not listening with the best speakers, but it does sound a little muddy. that beat definitely gives the rapper room to do what he wants, which is a good thing if he’s lyrical

I think this goes for all in general, that if you access the web to post negative comments on popular sites such as Youtube, Myspace and this blog etc. Then you become a person shouting alone in a forest, no one can hear you. To break it down in laments terms, if you gonna say ‘f this’ and ‘f that’ then don’t access this and that simple.
